The perfect exacta bet? Seve, Ballesteros entered in the same horse race in England

Seve vs. Ballesteros is not a match race, but it ought to be. The two horses, half-brothers, are both entered in the same race for the first time, in the Betfred TV Be Friendly Handicap at Haydock Park, east of Liverpool, England, on Saturday.

“Obviously, I would like Seve to win and Ballesteros to finish second,” Pauline Good, the breeder of the two and the owner of Seve, told Graham Green of Racing Post. “That would be the perfect result for me, but it looks like being a hot race. I still follow Ballesteros and was thrilled when he won at Chester, but it is going to be tough for Seve and I just hope he can run into a place.”

Good said she and her husband were fans of the late great Seve Ballesteros, even meeting him in Dubai, and came away impressed.

“He was charming and lovely so when the opportunity came to use his name I took it and when the second animal came along from the same mare I then used his Christian name,” she said.

UPDATE: Ballesteros prevailed over Seve, but they finished 11th and 12th respectively in the 15-horse race.
