Sure, they're playing golf today....

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. -- Or at least that's what Jim Hyler, the chairman of the USGA's championship committee, said in his most recent press briefing.

"We think that it will lighten up considerably around 1:30," Hyler said. "We may still get some showers for a little bit beyond that. But we're hopeful that we'll get a window of maybe three-to-five hours this afternoon when we can play golf."

So there's your best-case scenario, but given the photo above, one has reason to be skeptical.

And then there's the rain in the forecast for both tomorrow and Saturday. According to Hyler, at this rate it will be almost impossible to be able to pare down the field by the end of play by Friday night, which means the weekend is going to be a scramble as well.

But hey, look on the bright side....OK, so nothing's really coming to mind just yet. But give it time. There's got to be something.
