Whatever aspirations the USGA had of jamming 36 holes into today and crowning an Open champion by nightfall were literally washed away by last night's rain.
Resumption of third-round play has been delayed until noon as course workers try to ready the golf course, which means for the first time since 1983, the Open will need to go to Monday to just complete 72 holes.
Sixteen of 60 players have yet to begin their third rounds.
