Remember how this was the International team's year to win the Presidents Cup? That a mix of American hubris, foreign confines and global growth could send the United States home empty-handed?
Yeah, me neither.
Granted, as of writing, it's not even midway through Day 2 of the event. But in the early going, its been all red, white and blue, with the US club winning four of five Thursday matches and leading the majority of Friday contests.
The only force keeping the Americans from a sweep on Thursday was the play of Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace. The South African duo knocked off Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed to give the International roster its lone point of the day.
Though Grace certainly did his part, it was the iron play and putting of the one they call Shrek that propelled the team to victory. Which shouldn't be surprising; Oosthuizen had a stellar 2015, finishing second at both the U.S. and British Opens.
With the Internationals against the wall on Friday, and matched against power couple Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson, Oosthuizen delivered one of the shots of the tournament:
Given the current no-show by his teammates, it truly is Louis Oosthuizen against the world.
