Ian Poulter has pulled out of this week's Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in order to undergo corrective eye surgery.
Poulter said, "I have been having a problem with my vision in poor light, and my doctors have advised me that I should have this surgery as soon as possible to prevent further deterioration."
He expressed gratitude that the problem was easily correctable with a surgical procedure, but disappointment at missing one of his "favorite events."
Poulter did not say how soon he expects to return to competitive golf.
