Photos: NBC cart driver arrested, handcuffed at Pinehurst (Updated)

PINEHURST, N.C. -- A sidebar to Saturday's third round of the U.S. Open was the arrest of a cart driver for NBC who reportedly ignored the instructions of a state trooper on the 11th hole.

The Associated Press said the man, area resident Tommy Lineberry, was taken to  Moore County jail and charged after the cart he was driving for on-course reporter Roger Maltbie struck the trooper in the leg, and then didn't respond to the officer's instructions to stop.

"When a state trooper tells you to stop, THAT'S what you're supposed to do," the trooper told Lineberry, according to the report.

According to Golfweek.com, Lineberry has worked for Maltbie in previous U.S. Opens at Pinehurst.

__Update, Sunday 3:30 p.m.:__According to North Carolina Highway Patrol spokeswoman Pam Walker, Lineberrry was arrested on four felony counts: assault of a law enforcement officer; hit and run with personal injury; driving while impaired; and resisting, obstructing, and delaying a public officer. Walker said the DWI charge was for "possible impairment from drugs." Lineberry was released on $3,000 bail.

Here's the sequence of Lineberry being taken into custody, as captured by Golf Digest photographer Charles Laberge.
