Even if he doesn't win a second Wanamaker Trophy this week, Phil Mickelson seems to have enjoyed his time at Whistling Straits. On Friday, he turned one of the course's many hills into his own personal slip-n-slide. On Saturday, he hit a spectacular recovery shot from one of the track's many bunkers and waved to people on a boat.
Oh, and he also made a ton of birdies.
In fact, Mickelson's nine birdies in the third round are the most he's ever made in a round at any major in his career. By the time he completed his 66, Mickelson had vaulted up the leader board 45 spots, from making the cut on the number to moving into a tie for 16th.
