PGA Tour style this season has been full of bold pinks, subtle camo patterns, full-heather looks and throwback-inspired pieces. The blend of modern fabrics with 1960s and '70s styling has been fun to follow, and it has created a buzz among golfers trying to replicate that fashion. The top golfers in the world have access to stylists and tailoring most average golfers do not, but it is still possible to borrow their looks. Just because you don't have your tour card, doesn't mean you can't dress like a pro. Check out these winning looks from the Northern Trust that you can buy, too.
One of the brighter looks out at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., was from Tony Finau during the second round. His Nike Dri-Fit Polo ($75) in a bright red-pink shade popped over dark trousers. He expertly matched the shirt with a Nike AeroBill Classic99 Hat ($35) in the same exact shade for a crisp head-to-toe stylish look.
In a similar, but toned down version of Finau's shade was Keegan Bradley in the TravisMathew Heather American Beauty Ledger Golf Shirt ($85). He used the pink-ish shirt to brighten up a gray pair TravisMathew Castlerock The Trifecta pants ($125). The surf-and-skate-inspired brand has a lot of gray and dark blue in its collection, and this is a great example of how to incorporate brighter shades into a gray palette for a balanced ensemble.
Jordan Spieth's consistently clean look is something many golfers are interested in emulating. Our favorite look from last week was during a practice round when he paired the Heather Gray UA Playoff Polo ($65) with the classic navy UA Microthread Tapered Golf Pants ($100). The simple-yet-bold look is neat and very easily worn to dinner or a party. His UA Braided Belt ($40) matched his pants, a detail that will elevate any look.
Cameron Smith is a young pro that has been topping the style charts since he started working with Original Penguin. The 25-year-old skillfully pulls off every look the throwback brand offers. During the third round, he wore the Original Penguin Road Map Paisley Golf Polo ($89) that features a whimsical spin on a traditional paisley pattern. The bright teal shade is young and fun and paired great over the white All Day Every Day Golf Pant ($89). For an extra vintage touch, Smith added the Titleist Tour Rope Hat on top. Despite being spotted on tour a few times this month, the hat is not available for retail yet.
We'd be remiss not to mention Tiger Woods and Tommy Fleetwood's matching second round. It's unlikely they coordinated wearing gray camo, but both looked great nonetheless. Fleetwood's version was a Nike Dri-Fit Camo Golf Polo ($75) in Gunsmoke/black. The open-knit camo is more than just for looks, the pattern is actually strategically placed ventilation on high body heat areas. Woods' version, the Nike Zonal Cooling TW Golf Polo ($85), was from the Nike Tiger Woods Collection, of course. The two-button placket and fold-over collar look provide a clean and classic look with the camo pattern a little more subtle, almost heather-looking for those less open to camo.
Dustin Johnson is partial to the shade of navy, as evident by his typical tournament scripting, but he proved he can rock all-black, too, with his first-round outfit. DJ channeled a bit of Gary Player style in a monochromatic black adidas get-up. On top, the adidas Ultimate 365 Polo ($65) and the Ultimate 365 3-stripes pants ($80). The adidas 3-stripes Solid Reversible Belt ($50) provided clean accessorizing, adding a touch of personality to the look. While he could have opted for dark golf shoes, the Tour360 Knit Shoes ($190) were a great choice.
