PGA of America cancels 2015 Grand Slam event

The PGA of America has canceled its annual Grand Slam of Golf event. The organization released the following statement Thursday morning:

Due to the timing and logistics needed to stage the PGA Grand Slam of Golf to the highest standards, we are disappointed that we will not be able to conduct the event this year. This was a memorable year for major championship golf and the PGA of America congratulates Jordan Spieth, Zach Johnson and Jason Day on their impressive wins. We look forward to conducting the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in 2016.

Finding a home for the event became an issue this summer when, following controversial statements by Donald Trump, the PGA of America announced it would not hold this year's tournament at Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles. The PGA of America and Trump still have an arrangement in place to hold the event at the L.A. course, however, for the next three years.
