Masters: Spieth opens with 66

Looking to win his second consecutive green jacket, Jordan Spieth shot a six-under 66 in the first round at Augusta

Jordan Spieth picked up right where he left off in 2015, shooting a six-under par 66 in the first round of the Masters at Augusta National on Thursday.

The reigning champion, Spieth had six birdies and no bogeys and identical nines of three-under par 33s, and led by three at the conclusion of his round. Spieth led wire-to-wire at last year's event.

Spieth's playing partner, Paul Casey, was in second with a three-under par 69.

Rickie Fowler, searching for his first win at a major, got off to an erratic start. His round included four bogeys, two double bogeys and a triple bogey at the par-5 13th hole. He shot an eight-over par 80.

U.S. Amateur and NCAA champion Bryson DeChambeau shot an even-par 72 in this his first Masters appearance.
