Watch seven-month-pregnant LPGA pro hole out last shot before going on maternity leave

Alex Slitz

Playing while pregnant has been a challenge for Lindsey Weaver-Wright, who is expecting her first child before year's end. Back pain accompanying the pregnancy has been so bad that she has carried a folding chair with her during recent LPGA Tour events so she could sit in between shots. But the veteran tour pro had a sentimental reason to compete at this week's Ascendant LPGA in Texas; she’s been a member at The Old American Golf Club for five years. So it was that she decided it’d be the right place to play her final tournament before going on maternity leave.

She shot two under for the week, finishing T-16, but she’ll never forget the last tournament shot she hit before becoming a mother. On the par-4 18th hole, she had 137 yards in and jarred it.

“It's been tough, to be honest,” Weaver-Wright said of playing pro golf while seven months pregnant. “I have a lot of different ailments day-to-day it seems like. But I've taken the last two weeks with just the mindset that I'm just happy to be out here, lucky my body has allowed me to take it this far into pregnancy.”

And a hole-out to send her off on maternity leave? Lucky indeed.
