WINTER GARDEN, Fla. -- It wasn’t hard to find Lexi Thompson at the PGA Show Demo Day on Tuesday. Just follow the trail of guys wearing flat-brim hats and holding cans of Red Bull.
The 20-year-old six-time LPGA Tour winner flew in Monday night from the Bahamas, where she’ll compete in this week’s season-opening Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic, to help ring in the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show. In the morning, Thompson hosted a clinic for more than 40 boys and girls at Orange County National in conjunction with PGA Junior League Golf, a program in which she has become a newly named ambassador.
“I was so lucky to grow up playing golf surrounded by great mentors,” said Thompson, who in 2007 was the youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open at age 12. “Now, I want to help grow the game for the next generation of golfers, helping provide them with all the opportunities I had.”
Thompson then went to the Cobra-Puma pavilion to help promote the company’s latest line of products—and entertain some of her older fans.
In addition to signing autographs and taking selfies, Thompson showed off a skill we didn’t even know she had: working the turntable as a DJ in the Red Bull truck.
That said, Thompson will be sticking to her day job. By 1:30 p.m., she was being whisked off by golf cart as she headed back to the airport for her return flight to the Bahamas.
