LPGA: Ko collapse paves way for Ha Na Jang’s first win

Ko closes with 75 in the rain, ties for third

Ha Na Jang of South Korea won for the first time on the LPGA with an assist from Lydia Ko, who encountered one of the worst stretches of golf in her career.

The two entered the final round of the Coates Golf Championship tied for the lead and were still tied when they got to the seventh hole at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club. Ko, No. 1 in the Rolex Ranking, played the next seven holes in six-over par on a cold wet day in Ocala, Fla., and shot a three-over par 75.

Jang, 23, shot an even-par 72 to win by two over Canadian Brooke Henderson. Jang, who won six times on the Korean LPGA, had finished second on four occasions in 2015, including a loss to Chella Choi in the Marathon Classic.

The victory will move her into the top 10 in the Rolex Ranking.
