AUGUSTA, Ga. -- By now, you are forgiven if you've succumbed to some sort of hole-in-one fatigue at the Masters. There were nine holes-in-one in Wednesday's Par 3 contest, including back-to-back aces by Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler, and then another one by 80-year-old Gary Player.
On Sunday, with the notoriously accessible final-round hole location on the par-3 16th, we saw more aces by Shane Lowry and Davis Love III. Still, none of those prepared us for this. If we didn't have video, we're not sure we'd believe it.
In the annals of crazy holes-in-one in golf, Louis Oosthuizen throwing his tee ball off the ridge on the 181-yard 16th, then caroming it off J.B. Holmes' ball and into the hole might be one of the most unlikeliest ever. And Oosthuizen knows something about improbable shots at Augusta National. Remember, this was the guy who made double eagle on the second hole in 2012.
At four-over par to start the day, the hole-in-one for the 2010 British Open champion got him back to even par on the day.
