Jordan Spieth shoots 76 in Day 1 at Valspar Championship

If Jordan Spieth hopes to defend his Valspar Championship title, he's going to need a major turnaround, and fast.

The No. 1 player in the world stumbled to a four-over 39 in his first nine holes on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook. Spieth's tee shots were all over the map, leading to just two greens hit on the side.

Spieth was unable to right the ship on the second nine, as he failed to make a birdie on the way to posting a 37. The 76 total leaves Spieth miles behind early leader Keegan Bradley, who turned in a four-under 67.

As only a handful of players own a higher first-round score than Spieth, the 22-year-old has work to do on Friday just to make the cut.
