Great Scott! How is this possible?

What has happened to Adam Scott, once ranked third in the world, the dashing young Australian with a swing that once belonged to Tiger Woods, circa 2000?

Scott shot an 82 in the first round of the PGA Championship, a round that included 38 putts, four of them on the second hole. Scott has missed the cut in eight of 15 events (soon to be nine of 16). He has fallen to 46th in the World Ranking and seems a good bet to drop from the top 50.

Statistically he's a wreck. He ranks 172nd in driving accuracy (finding 56.41 percent of the fairways), 158th in greens in regulation (62.5 percent) and 182nd in putting average (1.816). The only players he's outplayed in the PGA Championship are five club pros.

This headline says it best, and no interpretation is necessary: La débâcle de Scott.
