Good news: You don't have to go to the driving range to get better

Sure, hitting balls every day will make you better. But not everyone has time for that.

How many thousands of times have you heard this sentence: You need to practice to get better. That’s all well and good, but you’re no tour player. You’ve got a job and a life that has nothing to do with golf -- and that can make it impossible to get to the driving range once or twice a month, let alone once or twice a week. But there’s some good news: Hank Haney says that you can get better without going to the course.

“There's no way to avoid the work that comes with building a good swing, but the best way to create a great base for improvement is to make 100 practice swings with an iron every day. You don't need a ball, and you can do them in your living room in front of the TV,” says Haney.

Here are all of the things that Haney says you’re improving by doing this every day:

Taking 100 swings in your living room every day this week doesn’t mean you’re going to break 80 this weekend. But it’s certainly a step in the right direction.
