Giannis Antetokounmpo delivers masterclass in f-bomb intonation

Early in the Bucks-Nets game Tuesday afternoon, Giannis Antetokounmpo came as close as he comes to losing his cool after a hard, seemingly dirty foul by Donta Hall:

It doesn't take a lip-reading expert to know what he said to Hall: "I'm gonna **** you up!"

But the funniest part came when the referee, Josh Tiven, got his attention. Watch the close-up here:

Giannis stops mid-sentence while he's saying "I'm gonna **** you up" to Hall, like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but he simply turns to Tiven and repeats his threat more casually: "I'm gonna **** him up."

That's the point when you moderate the tone, Giannis!

To Tiven's credit, he handles the situation well. He realized Giannis had basically calmed down, so he let the language go. And Hall, for his part, just nodded while Giannis shouted at him and looked extremely unconcerned. Despite the Greek Freak's size, I don't love his chances against Hall.

The more important question is, how do you describe Giannis' energy here? I've thought about it, and I think we have to go back to the 1980s, and Joe Montana's Sincere Guy Stu character from SNL.

"I'm gonna *** you up!"

Calm, interior monologue: "I'm gonna **** him up."
