Bryson DeChambeau in second in suspended second round at Abu Dhabi

Second round at Abu Dhabi suspended due to darkness

Before play was suspended due to darkness at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, American amateur Bryson DeChambeau shot one-under through nine holes. He sits just one stroke behind the leader Andy Sullivan (10-under), who played his entire second round on Friday.

"Whatever happens, happens, and I'm learning. I'm a golfing scientist, in a sense, and I'm trying to analyze and understand each and every aspect of the golf course and the way I played, as well," said DeChambeau.

Rory McIlroy, who was tied for third after the first round of play, shot one-over on 13 holes before his round was suspended. He and Rickie Fowler both sit in a tie for ninth at nine-under-par.

Jordan Spieth shot one-over through 13 holes, putting him in a tie for 26th at just three-under-par.

The projected cut after the second round is currently set at one-under, though it may fluctuate after play concludes on Saturday.

Other players still within striking distance include Joost Luiten, Thomas Bjorn (7-under, tied for third), Peter Hanson (6-under, tied for seventh) and Ian Poulter (5-under, tied for ninth).
