Billy Horschel's backwards hat causes Twitter to lose its mind

Billy Horschel's wardrobe is no stranger to the dramatic. But the fashion of the 2014 FedEx Cup winner entered new territory Friday afternoon, unexpectedly becoming a hot-button topic.

The commotion began at the end of the Open Championship's second round. Horschel was in the final wave of groups, and wasn't finishing on a high note: After firing a four-under 67 Thursday, Horschel was 12 over through 14 holes at Troon, which included a double-triple-double stretch on the back nine. On the final hole, Horschel ditched his rain gear, turned his hat backwards and played the 18th as such:

As Horschel explained after the round, he turned the hat backwards because the rain was pouring off his bill. That didn't stop Twitter from A) Accusing Horschel of disrespecting the game:

Or B) Venerating Billy Ho as golf's knight for the common man.

Though we understand where the critics are coming from, we are in Horschel's corner: It's not uncommon for golfers to turn their caps around in wet conditions. I suppose the two takeaways from this exercise are:
