Because you can't have too much Michael Jordan news

SAN FRANCISCO -- In the combined history of the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup, there has never been an assistant captain who has received as much coverage as Michael Jordan (for starters, see here, here, and here).

In fact, the presence of the basketball legend here has even overshadowed the fine work of former assistant captains such as...um....well, I'm sure they were nice guys.

Anyway, perhaps sensing he was stealing too much attention away from the real participants this week at Harding Park (technically an "honorary captain", he is not permitted to give advice to players), Jordan opted to skip the Opening Ceremonies and instead went to sneak in a round of golf across the street at the famed Olympic Club.

And for the record, yes, he was smoking a cigar, which is permitted at a private club.
