An intervention for Harrington

Padraig Harrington needed help, those around him deduced. His addiction was impairing his ability to earn a living, they said. So they held an intervention for him.

His wife Caroline was first. Then his caddie Ronan Flood weighed in. Finally, his sports psychologist Bob Rotella joined the chorus.

"Put simply," Derek Lawrenson writes in the Daily Mail, "Harrington's spouse and two of his closest friends had become fed up with the constant tinkering with his swing and clubs that has contributed to him falling virtually without trace in recent weeks. In a nutshell: stop trying to fix what clearly isn't broken."

"I do have a problem in that I get totally addicted at times with my swing and in recent weeks it has become an obsession," Harrington said.

Harrington is tied for 65th entering the final round of the Players Championship.
