Lancaster CC to Host '15 U.S. Women's Open

FAR HILLS, N.J. (AP) -- Lancaster Country Club has been selected to host the 2015 U.S. Women's Open.

The United States Golf Association announced the selection of the William Flynn-designed layout Saturday.

Club president Jerry Hostetter calls the course a hidden gem that will show well nationally and internationally.

Flynn's Old Course at Lancaster Country Club opened in 1920, and a course revision in 2007 brought the layout close to the original design.

Lancaster hosted qualifying for the 2008 Women's Open, as well as a number of state professional and amateur championships. In the 1948 Pennsylvania Amateur, Lancaster member Billy Haverstick beat 19-year-old Arnold Palmer 3 and 2 on the way to the title.

The 2015 Women's Open will mark the ninth time the championship will be played in Pennsylvania. Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem will host the Women's Open in July, and the 2010 championship will be held at Oakmont Country Club.
