Summer-ready golf shirts (solid)

The technology in golf shirts is so advanced these days, there's no excuse for wearing anything uncomfortable that makes you overheat and show perspiration. As a general rule, opt for light: Light colors that won't absorb the rays and lightweight materials that are breathable. Most golf shirts have moisture-wicking properties, and you can even find some with anti-microbial technology, so you'll still look and feel fresh after 18 holes. It's important to find a shirt that works for you, like Under Armour's Iso-Chill Golf Polo ($80), made with fabrics designed to disperse body heat for a noticeably cooler feel. Lululemon's Metal Vent Tech Polo ($98) is optimized for summer activity with a seamless construction that will prevent abrasion or uncomfortable chafing mid-round.

Statement-Making Summer Golf Shirts

Great for outings and events, patterned golf shirts are an easy way to show some personality. As long as the shirt is made from breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics, it's a way to have a little fun on the apparel side. The Tasc Performance Cloud Golf Polo ($89) is a great option made with super-soft fabrics that originate from bamboo, and the sustainable material has a ton of stretch, feeling more like a T-shirt than a traditional golf shirt. The Southern Tide Jack Sail Stripe Performance Polo Shirt ($95) has built-in UPF Sun Protection and a hemline that's slightly longer in the back for an appropriate untucked look.

Stylish and Protective Shades

It's vital to shield your eyes from harmful UV rays, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice style in the process. Opt for a quality pair of sunglasses with clarity-enhancing lenses, a lightweight construction and a shape to flatter your face. Oversize shades with a slightly rounded shape like the Knoxville XL Sport ($220) are a safe and stylish bet. Not only are large frames on-trend, they'll cover a large area of the face for even more sun protection.

Grown-up Sandals

If you're going to wear socks with sandals, at least find a pair of sophisticated slides that don't make you look like you're headed to high school soccer practice. These Hugo Boss Slides are stylish, refined and have a fun pop of color to enhance the look. The contoured footbed adds structure and comfort that'll feel great post-round or on the way to the pool.

Nike AeroBill Hat

There are few things worse than the feeling of a damp hat after a passing shower mid-round. It can be distracting, reduce sun protection qualities and look sloppy. Find a cap with proper ventilation and a lightweight build—it'll also be more likely to last longer. Nike's AeroBill collection is ultra-breathable and made with moisture-wicking materials to keep you fresh. There are tons of varieties of this model—including options for men, women and junior golfers—so you're sure to find the perfect fit.

NoSweat Golf Hat Liners

Even with the proper ventilation, some golfers are just more prone to having beads of sweat roll down their neck. The NoSweat Hat Liners are disposable stick-on liners that absorb sweat before it reaches your forehead. It'll prevent staining on the crown of your caps, reduce odor and some have even found it helps eliminate fogging your eyewear.

Golf Shorts

Not all golf shorts are created equal. Material, fit, length and color must be taken into account to find the right pair. Look for a wicking material that won't show sweat, a length that falls a few inches above your knee and a fit that gives you room to breathe, without requiring a ton of adjustments. Match your belt to the short color and don't be afraid to experiment with new colors or patterns—as long as you keep the rest of the outfit fairly simple, you're good to go.

Insulated Water Bottle

Staying hydrated on the golf course is essential, especially during heated rounds. Regardless of what your preferred on-course beverage is, you should always pack at least 16-ounces of water—more if you're prone to having multiple alcoholic drinks per round. Look for a bottle like this Yeti that'll fit into most cup holders, is durable to withstand a few drops and will keep drinks cold. This bottle has an easy sipping lid that can be removed for a wider mouth to make it easy to drop some ice cubes in.

No-distraction Golf Shoes

Shoes are much more on display during shorts weather than when wearing pants, so pay a little extra mind to your footwear choices in the summer. Low profile silhouettes are more universally flattering and while there are a ton of bold colors and patterns to choose from, you can never go wrong with a neutral pick. Sport-forward options like the Nike Air Zoom Infinity Tour Golf Shoes or the Adidas Codechaos bring a sneaker-like feel with modern enhancements like waterproofing and energy-returning midsoles.
