tiger Woods
Age: 36 | 7th Appearance | Record: 13-14-2After being a captain's pick for the last Ryder and Presidents Cups, Woods returned to a more familiar position atop the American team rankings. Although his poor weekend performances at majors in 2012 has drawn plenty of attention, his three wins during the season are still tied (with Rory McIlroy) for a PGA-Tour best.
Bubba Watson
Age: 34 | 2nd appearance | Record: 1-3-0The reigning Masters champion hasn't backed up that win with any more titles, but his consistency has become impressive nevertheless. He's made the top 25 in all 14 tournaments in which he's made the cut.
Jason Dufner
Age: 35 | 1st appearanceThe breakout player of the year picked up his first two PGA Tour titles and a runner-up in a four-week stretch during the spring. But he has the least match-play experience of anyone on the team, having never represented the U.S. in any team competitions, and with an 0-1 career record at the WGC-Accenture Match Play.
Keegan Bradley
Age: 26 | 1st appearanceBradley has been waiting for his chance to represent the U.S. in a team competition since being left off last year's Presidents Cup squad despite winning the PGA Championship. That win, along with clutch putts this year at Riviera and at his recent win at the Bridgestone Invitational are reason to believe he's ready to handle this big stage.
Webb Simpson
Age: 27 | 1st appearanceSimpson has never been part of a losing team representing his country, playing for the victorious Walker and Palmer Cup squads in 2007 and in last year's Presidents Cup. He enters his first of possibly many Ryder Cup appearances after claiming this year's U.S. Open at Olympic Club.
Zach Johnson
Age: 36 | 3rd appearance | Record: 3-3-1The 2007 Masters champ is enjoying one of the finest years of his career with wins at Colonial and the John Deere. His lack of length can be a disadvantage in team play, but there are plenty of bombers for captain Davis Love III to pair him with.
Matt Kuchar
Age: 34 | 2nd appearance | Record: 1-1-2Perhaps the most consistent player on tour, Kuchar picked up the biggest win of his pro career in May at the Players. His win at the 1998 U.S. Amateur also gives him lofty credentials in match play.
Phil Mickelson
Age: 42 | 9th appearance | Record: 11-17-6Like Martin Kaymer on the European side, the U.S. team's final automatic qualifier is also the player entering this event with the least amount of momentum. Mickelson started 2012 strong, but had been mired in possibly the worst slump of his career the past few months until a T-4 at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Jim Furyk
Age: 42 | 8th appearance | Record: 8-15-4It's been a bounceback year for Furyk, but it could have been so much better if not for heart-breaking losses at both the U.S. Open and Bridgestone Invitational. Still, it was hard for Love to overlook the fact the veteran was 5-0 at last year's Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne.
Dustin Johnson
Age: 28 | 2nd appearance | Record: 1-3-0A weird year has included a win, but also missing time due to a back injury from lifting a jet-ski. But he played his way into a pick with his top-five finishes in the first two FedEx Cup Playoff events, and his extraordinary length could make him a dangerous weapon in team competition.
Brandt Snedeker
Age: 31 | 1st appearanceConsidered by many to be the best putter in the world, Snedeker has improved other parts of his game as well. The Vanderbilt product has a first, a second, and a third, which happened to come at the British Open.
Steve Stricker
Age: 45 | 3rd appearance: 3-3-1Stricker has basically become Tiger Woods' permanent partner in recent team competitions making him a virtual lock to make the squad even though he narrowly missed out automatically qualifying.
