Patrick Reed got off to a fast start in the FedEx Cup Playoffs with a win at The Barclays. Reed averaged 302.6 yards off the tee with a Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 Double Black Diamond Driver that he first put into play last year. Reed prefers the low spin the club affords and feels it has improved his accuracy.

Reed took control of the tournament when playing the par-4 12th hole. Holding a one-shot lead, Reed zipped a 6-iron from 181 yards to within eight feet of the hole and when the birdie putt fell, he held a two-shot cushion that he never relinquished. The iron Reed used for the shot was Callaway’s MB1, a version of the company’s RAZR X muscle-back club.

Reed’s putter is an Odyssey White Hot RX #2 that is 34 inches in length with 4 degrees of loft. Though the for-sale model does not have a sight line, Reed had Odyssey add one for him.
