Michelle Wie misses the cut at Oakmont

This is a far cry from her performance at her very first major, the 2003 Kraft Nabisco Championship, where she finished tied for ninth.

Wie played her 36th hole about 20 minutes ago, and it eerily summed up her entire experience at Oakmont. She drove it far down the middle of the fairway, and could not have had more than 100 yards into the green (the 18th hole, by the way, is a 445-yard par-4). With a wedge in her hand, she pulled her approach left into the greenside bunker. She escaped the bunker just fine, only to three-putt from 15 feet.
