Stewart Cink to step away from golf after wife, Lisa, diagnosed with breast cancer

The outpouring of support for the family of 2009 British Open champion Stewart Cink started immediately after Cink announced via Twitter on Tuesday that his wife, Lisa, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Cink made it clear that the family is still awaiting more details about the diagnosis, but to help his wife and the family, Cink will step away from the game.

Here's Cink's statement:

Cink, a six-time PGA tour winner, is also one of the most likable guys on tour, as evidenced by the reaction his news has already received from his peers. Here's a photo of Cink with Lisa and their kids, Connor and Reagan, after Stewart won the 2009 British Open at Turnberry in a playoff over Tom Watson.
