Masters 2024: This Augusta National gold card is one of the lesser-known perks of playing in the Masters

April 14, 2024

AUGUSTA, Ga. — There are many perks to earning a spot in the Masters, most notably, you get to play in the freaking Masters. Seriously, no other tournament causes grown men to geek out over receiving an invite. Heck, even patrons show off their passes to their mailmen.

But in addition to the beautiful confines, being a part of history, and playing for a bunch of cool prizes (in addition to the green jacket and a boatload of money, of course), there's also the food. Patrons appreciate it because it's good and cheap. And as you can imagine, those playing in the event have it even better. And as Michael Kim shared on Masters Sunday, Augusta National has its own special touch in this area.

Kim, who played in the 2019 Masters after winning his lone PGA Tour title at the 2018 John Deere Classic, showed off the gold card that players receive for the week. Yep, a an Augusta National gold card.

Pretty snazzy, huh?

This makes things convenient for players to swipe when dining with family members. Golf Digest confirmed that players still receive this and that all food is comped. However, drinks are charged to a players account that is settled at the end of the week. Not that players are going to be boozing a lot while the biggest tournament of the year is going on.

Anyway, this is just another example that the Masters—and Augusta National—operates differently. And whoever winds up winning this year will probably be swiping that thing pretty late on Sunday night.
