The PGA Tour was back in Texas, this time at TPC Craig Ranch for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

Many of the top players took a break before a busy summer schedule picks up shortly, with a signature event and a major championship coming in the next two weeks.

That left room for a lot of firsts. Canadian Taylor Pendrith and Ben Kohles were both looking for their first PGA Tour wins as they battled down the stretch. Kohles held a one-shot lead heading to the 72nd hole, a par 5. He then did something that no one else did all day: he made bogey. When Pendrith two putted from 40 feet he not only erased the one-shot deficit, he won outright, shooting a final-round 67.

Pendrith took home $1.71 million for his victory from the $9.5 million overall purse. A devastated Kohles takes home $1.035 million.

The tour has two events next week—the Wells Fargo Championship, a signature event, and the Myrtle Beach Classic. The following week is the PGA Championship.
