Stripes are nothing new, but bold stripes like we saw in 2013 harken back to the heyday of 1980s golf shirts. This brand of modernized-retro is usually very bright and colorful, much like the line Joey Rodolfo created at Cutter & Buck. This is not subtle, and shirts like these should never be sold in a size larger than L, but it's a spirited look that is universal in golf apparel, whether you're So Yeon Ryu in South Korea, Paul Casey in England, Camilo Villegas in Medellín, Colombia, or Billy Horschel in Florida.
Graphic Patterns
Graphic patterns are really just a variation of the bold theme. And once again, because of the scale, should only be worn through size L. It's a great, modern statement that is a perfect look for tall players like Michelle Wie and Henrik Stenson.
All White
The all-white look will never go away, and all-white accessories are by far the most popular -- particularly with shoes as they will go with everything. From Jason Day to Bud Cauley, this look works when you take it to the max. So if you're going to go there, go all the way.
Camouflage
A perfect example of the closer relationship today between fashion trends and golf design, and it's a welcome one. Camo should only be worn by people who have a thick-enough skin to be able to handle all of the wisecracks it elicits around the golf course.
Team Uniforms
Go, Team! Go! Looks like adidas took a page from the Carlsbad High School golf team. And ironically, this particular shirt is unique enough that they almost got away with it. A company scripting their players is a trend that will continue since brand-building is so essential in the marketing matrix. My only worry is when these players get paired together.
Patterned Pants
Patterned bottoms are lively and give any outfit a great exclamation point. Jack Nicklaus had it right when he said, 'pattern bottoms, solid tops. Or vice-versa.' This is a trend that will also continue into 2014, and that's a good thing.
Color Blocking
Bright, graphic color blocking is perfect for TV. In fact, maybe this should be the new test pattern. While color blocking was big this year, it should continue, and rightly so.
Sweater Vests
Sweater vests should be an essential in everyone's wardrobe. They're super practical, and as seen here, can put an exclamation point on any look.
Monochromatic Color Schemes
There's nothing subtle about wearing all one color but you must have the personality to make this rock. It's really the antithesis of the all-white. Puma has taken an aggressive position with this look, and it's worked well with Lexi . . .

...Rickie and Jonas. The only recommendation I would make for the future is to replace the white belt with a colorful matching one.
Compression Tights
Compression tights are really cool and should be in every LPGA golfer's wardrobe. Remember that tights can contrast the other parts of your outfit, so be mindful of the sizing.
Cool Shoes
Having some fun with your footwear should be a given, and 2013 proved you can dress it up or keep it casual. The beauty is that most work with shorts, and some even work with trousers. Be careful to make sure that the length of your pants does not compete with the shoe, so keep the length on the no-break side. And can we please bring back kilties next year?
Knee-High Socks
Don't you just love this? I think along with tights, this is a look we should see more of. Yes, it's a bit younger, but doesn't it look cool? Thanks Ai!
White Belts
A style review wouldn't be complete without me going on and on about white belts. Whether it's the rule of 36 or matching your belt to your shoes, the one thing that's for sure is that you'll be calling attention to your waist. So look in the mirror and be mindful of what you're highlighting.
Matching Belts
Matching your belt to your pants, I think, is an excellent variation on the theme, as it eliminates that big exclamation mark, and keeps everything in the same tone.
Cool Belts
Having some fun around your waist is not a bad thing. We love the fact that G-Mac has gone from white belts to a more colorful assortment, and Paula Creamer's big buckles are always a conversation starter.
Facial Hair
Movemeber gave everyone an excuse not to shave, but will this now be a standard go-to look? For Tommy 'Two Gloves', D.J., Ryan Moore and Kyle Stanley it works. We're giving Keegan a hall pass because he's such a huge Red Sox fan. So, for that matter, is Kuchar.
Women In Pink
We love the fact we saw lots of pink this year. And while it's historically been an LPGA color...
Men In Pink
...it also works on the other side of the aisle. Kevin Streelman and these other PGA players look great with a little pink, and breast cancer awareness is something we should keep in mind 24/7.
Loudmouth Pants
Loudmouth is here to stay. John Daly might be one of the few wearing them on tour, but the brand has now become a staple in golf shops throughout the country. Frankly speaking there's some fun to wearing Loudmouth shorts as well. If you're going to go there, don't be bashful!
Bright Colors
If you've been paying attention you know that 2013 was a big, bold, colorful year. Going bright and bold is a symbol of golfers who have confidence not only in their game, but their wardrobe. Here's to a bright 2014!
