Bandon Preserve

A closer look at Bandon Preserve, the fifth course at Bandon Dunes.

September 2011

After a recent buddies trip to Bandon Dunes, our senior travel editor, Matt Ginella, posted a slide show celebrating the best of the four courses at the resort. Now he provides visuals and details of Bandon's fifth course, Bandon Preserve, which is being built by the design team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The 13-hole par-3 course neighbors Bandon Trails, the other Coore/Crenshaw design on property. If you tee it up from the black tees, and play to a back pin on every hole, it can play as long as 1,936 yards. It's 819 yards if you choose to play from the forward tees. Your driver can probably stay in your room, but with tee shots ranging anywhere from 189 yards to 44 yards, with some undulation changes and a variety of wind conditions, you'll want to be packing all of your irons and at least a rescue club or two.

Scheduled to open in Spring 2012, for more on Preserve and an exclusive look at the scorecard, see Ginella's recent blog post. Otherwise, enjoy the tour.

Bandon Preserves, Hole 2

The 142-yard second hole has tiered tee boxes, and can play as short as 66 yards.
