You probably didn't notice... the most consistent golfer in the world this year has been a 60-year-old man

On Wednesday, Jay Haas was announced as the U.S. captain for the 2015 Presidents Cup. Has anyone considered he might want to play on the team as well?
OK, so maybe that's not going to happen, but Haas' 2014 has been nothing short of remarkable. The 60-year-old has finished in the top five in nine of his 10 starts this season and six in a row. The recent stretch includes five third-place finishes, including T-3s at the tour's first two majors of the year, the Regions Tradition and the Senior PGA Championship.
What happened in his one non-top-five? Haas only finished T-12 at the Toshiba Classic in March, shooting rounds of 68, 67, 67. Slacker.
Haas is currently third in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup standings and second on the money list with nearly $1 million in earnings. He trails only Bernhard Langer, but that young whippersnapper is only 56.
Haas, who has served as an assistant captain to Fred Couples at the past three Presidents Cup, will take over the reins next October at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea. The nine-time PGA Tour winner and a playing member on both a winning Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup team will lead a team against an International squad that will be captained by Nick Price.
Price may have had the better playing career than Haas, but he's clearly not playing as well right now. Not that the Zimbabwean should feel ashamed. With Haas' consistent record and a 68.59 scoring average, there aren't too many golfers on any tour who can say they are.
