This story from the Taiwan News says that LPGA star Yani Tseng is considering renouncing her Taiwanese citizenship in favor of another country over her anger at Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou for rejecting her suggestion that he bring an LPGA event to the country.
It apparently would not be a first for a Taiwanese athlete to change citizenship. Taiwanese billiards champion Wu Chia-ching reportedly is about to become a Singaporean.
The Taiwan News story says that Tseng won't "contemplate playing for China because of the sensitive political problems such a decision would entail, her father, Tseng Mao-hsin, told reporters Wednesday. However, she was still talking to several Southeast Asian nations, he said."
