PGA Championship 2025: Xander Schauffele unveils classy menu for PGA Champions Dinner

The Champions Dinner used to be the exclusive domain of the Masters. In simpler times, it was the only culinary news golf fans had to keep up with on a yearly basis. Those days are gone, baby, gone. The year is 2025 and champions dinners now dot the golf landscape like cranberries on a walnut salad. That includes the site of the 2025 PGA Championship, Quail Hollow, where Xander Schauffele will celebrate his 2024 Wanamaker win with a meal fit for a champ. Dig in.
Initial thoughts: Schauffele is an app guy. He has four starters on the menu and only one main. The damage this guy has done to mozz sticks and spinach artichoke dip over the years must be legendary. Second, we approve of his Wagyu selection for the entrée course, but there’s a bit too much going on here. Blackened jumbo shrimp, bl cheeuese gremolata, frizzled onions and a bone-marrow reduction. That’s the Four Horseman of the acid-reflux apocalypse. Since Schauffele opted for a nice cut from halfway around the world, just the beef doing the heavy lifting. In other words, don’t play the flop shot when the bump n’ run will work just fine.
Finally, for dessert Schauffele went with a pair of seasonal classics, and this peanut gallery has no complaints. In fact, if they’re offering shots of that Chambord syrup, we’d knock a few back, straight no chaser. We hope Schauffele waits until after the tournament, however, because that plus a bellyful of smoked goat cheese dates sounds like a recipe for the worst hangover of all time.
