Will we see a three-peat this year in Mexico? If Viktor Hovland has his way ... definitely.

The 25-year-old from Norway is looking to win the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba for a third consecutive year with PGA Tour Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler and two-time major winner Collin Morikawa looking to put an end to his run.

This will be Hovland’s third start to the 2022-23 tour season after a T-5 finish at the Zozo Championship and a T-21 at the CJ Cup. A red-hot third-round 62 from Hovland in 2021 helped him cruise to a four-shot victory and set the 72-hole record for the event with a 261. Carlos Ortiz, Justin Thomas and Scottie Scheffler rounded out the top four in last year’s event.

If Hovland can pull off the three-peat, he'll be the first player to do so on the PGA Tour since Steve Stricker won the John Deere Classic in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

The El Camaleón Golf Course at Mayakoba contains stretches on the oceanfront, tropical jungle and mangroves while yielding plenty of red numbers; the average winning score for this event has been 20 under since 2013.

The winner will receive 500 FedEx Cup points and a $1.476 million cut of the $8.2 million purse.
