Henrik Stenson won the Open Championship (and his first major title) with an incredible display of ball-striking, which is not unusual for a player generally considered to be one of the best players in the game from tee to green.

Stenson’s driver is a Callaway XR 16 that he first put into play in January. During Tracman testing, Stenson found the driver, which has a slight fade bias, gave him added ball speed with a considerably tighter dispersion pattern.

But perhaps the most impressive part of Stenson’s game at Royal Troon G.C. was his iron game as he hit 16 of 18 greens Sunday and led the field for the week with a 77.8 percentage. Stenson’s strong iron game could also be seen on the par 3s as he played the 16 one-shotters in five under par. The Swede’s irons are Callaway’s Legacy Black—and Asia-only model that have been a mainstay in his bag for several years. The irons have somewhat wide soles that provide an added bit of forgiveness.
