On A String

Lost in Thursday's Spieth madness was one of the straightest drives ever from Will Zalatoris

On Thursday at TPC Craig Ranch, a two-under 70 placed you in a tie for ... 96th. Will Zalatoris, who says he's played the Dallas-area course for half his life, was among those at T-96, quietly lost in the madness that was Jordan Spieth's opening-round 63.

While Spieth was providing us with electric moment after electric moment in his first round, Zalatoris was just plugging along at one under through five holes. Then, at the 348-yard par-4 sixth, Willy Z hit one of the shots of the day that flew under the radar because of what was going on with Jordy. Feast your eyes on this absolute frozen rope of a drive from the Masters runner-up:

In a sneaky hilarious move, the tour shut off replies to this tweet, as they should have. All of the Twitter tough guys would have flocked to the replies to tell you how straight they drive it, when in reality none of them can pump one 300 down the pipe like this. Somewhere, Paul Azinger is watching this on repeat and saying "straighter than train smoke" over and over.
