'Oh my gosh': Watch the new PGA Tour winner’s ball bounce off a tree and back in bounds to set up the winning birdie

A game of skill occasionally has to defer to a game of luck, and Brian Campbell received one of the luckiest bounces that enabled him to turn a potential playoff loss into a victory in the Vidanta Mexico Open on Sunday.
On the second playoff hole, the par-5 18th, at Vidanta Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Campbell hit his tee shot wildly right and destined for out of bounds, when it caromed off a tree and back into play. From there, he hit a second shot into the fairway and a third from 68 yards to within three feet of the hole. After his opponent Aldrich Potgieter missed his own birdie attempt, Campbell holed the winning putt.
“Oh my gosh, that bounce,” Campbell, 31, said. “I mean? I’ll take it. Got ourselves back in position and gave ourselves a chance and it paid off. To be in this position is so unreal.”
The victory was the first on the PGA Tour for Campbell.
