PGA Championship 2025: PGA Professional champ Tyler Collet nearly goes full Michael Block, lips out ace on par-3 13th
Tyler Collet's game is trending at just the right time. Last month, the assistant pro at John’s Island Club won the 2025 PGA Professional Championship by a record 10 strokes, punching his ticket to this week’s PGA Championship.
On Thursday at Quail Hollow, Collet proved he isn’t in Charlotte simply for the BBQ when he chipped in to save par on the 12th hole following on early double bogey. Moments later, Collet nearly delivered a Michael Block-like moment, lipping out a would-be ace on the par-3 13th. Winess (near) history.
Outstanding shot from Collet. The high-five attempt with caddie afterward? Not so much, but he isn’t the first golfer to botch the seemingly routine celebration, and he certainly won’t be the last.
Despite the almost ace and inevitable Michael Block comparisons, Collet has a lot of work to do if he wants to live up to Block’s Cinderella run at Oak Hill two years ago. The 29-year-old currently sits one over through four, six back of early leader Ryan Gerard, but if his irons are as dialed in as they look, we might be in for another wild weekend.
