Tour pros, industry leaders pay tribute to Tim Rosaforte via social media

January 12, 2022

Shock and sadness were felt throughout the golf industry on Tuesday with news of the passing of Tim Rosaforte due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. The former Golf Digest writer and TV analyst was remembered fondly by his longtime colleagues at our publication as well as those who he worked with at Golf Channel, Sports Illustrated and the various newspapers he wrote for early in his journalism career.

“The former jock who was driven to be a sports writer was humble and self-effacing about the professional challenges he took on,” wrote Jaime Diaz, who worked with Rosaforte at Golf Digest and Golf Channel, for GolfChannel.com. “But it was with an attitude of gratitude—always looking to improve, always confident that getting knocked down would mean getting right back up, always whimsically attuned to the human comedy. It made him funny, energized, easy company. But more than that, it was Tim’s bold willingness to vulnerably enter big arenas that made him a constant and outstanding achiever.”

The outpouring of affection for Rosaforte wasn’t limited to fellow journalists who appreciated the dedication he had to his craft and the ways in which he pushed the field with his dogged reporting and insistence on getting the story right. Dozen of tour pros who Rosaforte interviewed and profiled during his career took to social media to express their condolences and share a memory or two.

Here is a sample of some of the tributes players, athletes and industry figures posted in honor of “Rosie.”
