    Save for later

On Sunday morning, Cameron Young, his wife Kelsey and their three children rolled into 9 a.m. mass, fashionably late, at Our Lady Star of the Sea church, which is right across the street from TPC Sawgrass. From a few pews over, I watched Young do his best to keep all three kids as quiet as possible, a plight any parent who takes their young children to church understands very well.

It seemed to me like an ideal distraction from what loomed later that day - Young was firmly in contention at the Players Championship, where a day earlier he had hooked one into the water on the final hole of the day, the par-4 18th, leading to a double bogey that dropped him from 11 under to nine under. At the time it felt like a week-ender. It turned out to be a very minor misstep in what would end up being the win of his life to date.

And this time, unlike Young's first victory at the Wyndham Championship late last summer, the whole family was on hand, making it extra special. "That's something I'll remember for a long time," he said afterward.

Perhaps he might even remember the chaotic morning, which involved not only getting three kids to mass but getting them to sit still during. We talked about that whole scene, and so much more, on this week's episode of The Loop podcast below. Plus, an interview with Jerry Kelly, more unruly fan discourse and a WILD TGL injury theory.
