The Kansas-West Virginia game featured the most unfair free throw disparity ever
First off, I want to come clean. I did not watch a second of the Kansas vs. West Virginia game, so it's difficult to know just how bad the referees were without seeing some of the calls. But the game's free throw disparity was so unfair and out of control that it had to be pointed out. Have a look below:
Your eyes are not deceiving you. Kansas attempted THIRTY-FIVE free throws to West Virginia's two. We've heard of home cooking before, and there's likely been plenty of it in the past at Allen Fieldhouse, where the Jayhawks rarely lose, but that's just ridiculous. To add insult to injury, the 20th-ranked Mountaineers led by as many as 12 in the second half, and held a 66-58 lead with under four minutes to play. With some help from the officials, Kansas was able to erase the deficit and win 77-69. West Virginia coach Bob Huggins was understandably upset at the end of the game, and was hit with a tech:
Huggins is not a guy I'd want screaming in my ear, even if his nickname is Huggy Bear. He wasn't finished either, unleashing an epic, yet calm rant about the officiating after the game:
