The important item Scottie Scheffler bought at Cypress Point, lost, then bought again on eBay

MEMPHIS — Scottie Scheffler is a creature of habit. And routines. And while he is not a superstitious sort—though “a little stitious,” he said—there are items in his possession he is loath to part with.
Besides trophies.
Such is the hard-hitting revelation that came to light on Thursday after Scheffler began his defense of his FedEx Cup title with a three-under 67 in the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The reigning PGA and British Open champion admitted that he has used his own money—he has a little bit to spare these days—to purchase a key piece of equipment. That would be a divot repair tool that he acquired a year or two ago. It’s not just any divot repair tool but one from famed Cypress Point Club in California, which he purchased at the pro shop there.
“But I don't use it because it's from Cypress Point,” he said. “It's just the right size and it's metal, so they don't really make those types of divot tools anymore, so I found one there and I've stuck with it.”

He stuck with it, like he has stuck with the same ball marker and yardage book cover, until he lost the thing. Then he couldn't find another divot tool like it. “Then I went on eBay, found a Cypress Point [divot tool], paid like 50 bucks for it,” Scheffler said. “Then I went back this year [during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am], and they were a little cheaper on-site so I got a couple extras.”
He used his real identity, too, for the eBay purchase. No fake name or using his agent’s address. “No, he [the seller] sent it to me and wrote me a little note and everything. He was a nice guy,” the native Texan said.
We have to pay closer attention to this divot repair tool next time Scheffler hits the green. Probably will come on the first hole of Friday’s second round. The World No. 1 ranks first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained/approach the green. This must be some cool tool.
