Watch this weekend's hilarious (and homicidal) SNL golf sketch starring Nate Bargatze

Hitting a bird with a wayward drive is incredibly unlikely but not impossible. In the last year, it’s happened at least twice, once in the U.S. Open Women’s Open and again recorded on a random range. This weekend, Saturday Night Live took those real-life instances and ran with them in a potentially PETA-upsetting sketch in which comedian Nate Bargatze plays a golfer with an unfortunate combination of accuracy and power. In case you missed it, it's absolutely must-see TV.

The caption “putting the bird in birdie” is just a taste of what you’re going to get, as fictional golfer Brady Knoll finds a way to kill a bird, take down a bald eagle’s nest and murder a “famous” snapping turtle in quick succession. And that doesn’t even include the most harrowing of his kills.

In vintage SNL fashion, things get worse and worse for Knoll as he loses his Nike sponsorship and loses the respect of the armed forces with Usain Bolt-esque speed.

The sketch is right up Bargatze's alley since he’s a self-described golf addict. The comic has even texted Jason Day during a mid-am, calling him his “virtual caddie.”

The clip doesn’t get that deep into the world of golf, but it’s fair to say that Bargatze has a solid swing. He's shot even-par twice at his home course of Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. Whether he's had a hole-in-one lead to a death, however, is still unknown.
