    Save for later

Golf fans attending the next Ryder Cup could possibly wind up with some rather interesting accomodations.

The 2027 Ryder Cup will be held at Adare Manor Golf Club in Ireland, but questions have arisen regarding whether there's enough lodging in the area for the expected 200,000 fans. And The Times has learned of an unusual potential solution.

According to minutes from a meeting of a tourism group obtained by The Times notes the possibility of fans staying in rooms aboard cruise ships. The cruise ships would dock at Foynes Point near Limerick, and then take a train to the course.

“Docking a cruise ship at Foynes Port remains an option to facilitate staff or spectators for the event," the notes from the meeting read.

The notes also said that work would continue on a "major rail transportation plan" as well as a new road called the Adare Bypass to help with what was described as a "fragile traffic management system."

Adare Manor has previously hosted the Irish Open in 2007 and 2008 and the J.P. McManus Pro-Am in 2005, 2010 and 2022, but nothing on the scale of the Ryder Cup.
