Drive For Show
This angle of Robert MacIntyre’s driver off the deck at Wentworth is so sick it just jump-started flu season
There’s a new driver-off-deck sheriff in town, and his name is Bobby Mac. Last week, at one of the world’s most illustrious tracks, MacIntyre began his opening round by going driver-driver, uncorking this beauty with the big stick from the fairway.
It was bold choice, Cotton, but it paid off as the lefty's shot stayed low and out of the wind, got a healthy kick off a mound and ended up hole high just off the green.
If you thought that was nasty, however, just wait until you see the DOTD MacIntyre unleashed at the BMW PGA Championship on Thursday, enhanced by some gloriously cinematic camera work.
Wow. Just wow. Framed by a camera angle that makes PGA Tour coverage look like a 12-year-old’s YouTube channel, this late riser started low and straight before hanging a sudden left, gradually gaining altitude as it cut perfectly with the curvature of Wentworth’s 602-yard, par-5 17th. MacIntyre went on to birdie the hole, finishing his opening round in a tie for third with a five-under 67. We guess it’s true what they say:
When in England, bend it like Beckham Bobby.
