The Renaissance Club

Rickie Fowler watches bestie Justin Thomas tee off at Scottish Open, JT waves to him, friendship triumphs yet again

We know the Grinch had to wait until Christmas morning for his cold, dead heart to thaw, but we have good news for all you haters, pessimists, cynics and jerks out there:

You can get a headstart on the ol’ green grouch today.

All you have to do is check out this video of Rickie Fowler watching his best bud Justin Thomas’ tee shot from the balcony above The Renaissance Club’s eighth hole and you’ll be well on your way to a faintly perceptible upwards curvature at the corner of your lips.

Buds being buds. You love to see it. This charming interaction—capped off by JT waving back at his best friend as if he knew he was watching all along—comes a week after Fowler, Thomas and Jordan Spieth were all spotted hanging out at Wimbledon together and two weeks after Fowler’s first win in four years at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The band is officially back together. Nature is healing.

Now all we have to do is hope Smylie Kaufman gets back out on the course soon, and we’ll really have a piping hot pot of good vibes going. Lord knows golf could use some of those right about now.
