A charity event that was supposed to pit Rory McIlroy against Dustin Johnson has been cancelled, according to a report.

Businessman Salvador Zamora and event organizers said Thursday that the "Dustin vs. Rory: Battle for a Cause" was axed due to a break of contract on the part of Creative Artists Agency. Zamora told ABS-CBN that CAA was supposed to be the mediator between the Philippines event and the two golfers.

“We were very excited to bring this event to the Philippines,” Zamora said. “It would have been the start of bigger things for Philippine golf. However, circumstances beyond our control caused this cancellation.”

The match was originally supposed to feature Jason Day, but the World No. 1 had to drop out as he recovers from a back injury.
