MONTREAL — There is nobody like Tom Kim at the Presidents Cup. Nobody. Is he a hero? Villain? All of the above? Whatever your view, this man has brought the heat ever since he first came on the scene at Charlotte in 2022, split his pants twice, and then lit up the International team with the putt of the event.
He was back at it on Thursday and Friday, first going toe to toe with Scottie Scheffler in an exciting front-nine exchange, and then rooting on his team from the sidelines during the historic Friday comeback. Now partnered with Si Woo Kim in Saturday fourball, he's back at it. On the par-5 sixth hole, 1 up in the match, Tom Kim went at the pin on his second shot with a fairway wood. The club spin and the celebratory fist in the air—while the ball was still in the air—could only have been executed by a man with serious Presidents Cup mojo:
Unfortunately for the Internationals, Kim did not win the hole because he two-putted from 25 feet, and Keegan Bradley matched his eventual birdie. Still, the 22-year-old celebrating like he just won the deciding match on Sunday is everything you want from the comic, dramatic, never-boring hero of the Presidents Cup.
